2009 Gold "Barrel Select" Pinot Noir

Windward Vineyard is in its 20th year of maturity and about to show off its adulthood. This is by far the most intense vintage, and probably the last time we will separate out the 2 Vosne-Romanée clones to bottle separately as a “Barrel Select”. The nose is intense as the bouquet swirls up transporting the wild berry characteristics that Windward Vineyard classically displays. Ripe bing cherry fruit accompanies the entry on the palate and the traditional Burgundian-style, soft yet dense middle portion of the wine is bigger than preceding vintages. The explosive “Peacock Tail” finish of oak phenolics from our Seguin Moreau Bourgogne Grand Cru barrels stays with this wine as Windward Vineyard’s Trademark that our friends and supporters covet and know so well.
