Paso is on a vintage "Roll", the '17, '18 and now the '19 are outstanding vintages in our 21st century's 1st decade. The 19's hue is brilliant with a slight cast of ultra violet, promising a mystical wine awaiting your first taste. Both nose and wild berry fruit palate are consistent on entry of the "Noble Fruit" sliding gently into a velvety river that flows into our Windward Vineyard's signature peacock tail finish that seems endless. The 2020 Vintage is a near-perfect, 20/20. Clear vision of our 30 year-old vineyard's ability to achieve it's 1990 plantings' objective: To produce a great American Burgundian-style traditional pinot noir. With it's subtle whiffs of violet aroma and ripe berry fruit on entrance, it stands as an outstanding vintage; drinking beautifully on release with an honest propensity to age and gather layered complexity with sustained balance of fruit, acidity and long phenolic finish. I am proud to recommend our 2020 Windward Vineyard Monopole for your consumption now and many years of future tasting and food pairing experiences.
The nose opens with aromas of the first ripe cherries of spring mingled with fresh rose petals. Hints of vanilla linger from our 100% Seguin Moreau French Oak barrels. Gentle cassis richness caresses the mid palate, with tea leaves, strawberry and cherry on the finish.
Our 25th Anniversary vintage. Bing cherry presides over this vintage, from the nose to the lingering finish. Aromas of the cherry and forest floor share the stage with the salted caramel on the nose. On entry to the palate, hints of cranberry swirl with the cherry. The lush rich feel on mid-palate draws you in, and the lingering finish leaves you with fresh leather and berries.
Our 2015 vintage is our smallest harvest to date, but a special one. Darker in flavor and color than other vintages, it shows intense eartly notes with an aroma of autumn forest, hints of coffee, molasses with ripe berries mingling on the palate.
The hue of the wine indicates the beautiful bouquet which will reflect a nose of wild berries and a tinge of cassis. The fruit will follow with Windward’s bright Bing cherry essence. A seductive “middle” to the wine tasting will introduce the long, complex “peacock tail” finish that is the signature of our mature Windward Vineyard.
